Dixie Moon Cafe Bonita Springs

Have you tried smelt?

Dixie Moon Café’s “Southern food with an attitude” in Bonita Springs, a favorite for Southern style down home good cooking, has a unique taste treat! For $9.95 you get a very large order of smelt, a sardine sized fish, cleaned, and deliciously and delicately fried in the lightest of batters, served with lemon and tartar sauce. This is crispy, juicy, and a familiar favorite of visitors from the North and from South America, where the smelt, a cold water fish, are harvested. The smelt can run out early, so be warned! Pair delicately fried smelt with a glass of beer or tea, and you’ve got a real treat. Add fried green tomatoes, fried crawfish, true Southern Fried Chicken or BBQ brisket, and a signature peach blossom cake with caramel sauce, and you have hometown delights not found at national chain restaurants. This is down home cookin’, like visiting a favorite small town Texas bar/restaurant from the 60’s.
It’s too easy to drive right by the not well marked restaurant on the East side of Old 41, so go slow as you approach!

NOTE: DIXIE MOON CAFE MOVED TO ANOTHER LOCATION, AND THEN CLOSED IN JUNE, 2009. IT SHALL BE MISSED.
