Taste of Chicago in Naples Florida!

You don’t have to be a Chicagoan to enjoy a great Chicago-style hot dog. Such first hand knowledge sure helps to give appreciative Chicago natives that beaming smile when they dine. They then walk up to congratulate owners Bonnie and Rick Haas on the delicious authenticity of their hotdogs and other offerings! Earlier, one patron used her iPhone and Facebook to post to her Chicago based friends that “I’m in shorts having authentic Chicago hot dogs right now in Naples, Florida, while you’re in 20 degree weather, and other friends are stuck in snow!"

This truly Mom and Pop independent operation was moved from its original Tennessee location to Naples, to allow the family to be their two sons at Gulf Coast High School. Just a week old, it had over thirty customers this evening, and the advertising hasn’t really started! It in Naples’ Greentree Plaza, at the former site of Havana’s, next to Em-On Thai.

Walk in and your order is quickly taken. There’s five  hot dogs from plain at $2.75, cheese dog $3.35, and chili cheese dog $4.35; ten sandwiches with sausages, beef and more, and different burgers and a grilled chicken sandwich. The décor features photos of Wrigley field and a variety of Chicago teams memorabilia in a cheerful, yellow-walled, nicely-lit setting.
Chicagoans were happy to see their authentic hot dogs and sandwiches served only on Gonnella plump sesame rolls, using Vienna Beef products, the epitome of Chicagoan authenticity!
Gonnella Rolls

I enjoyed my $4 Chicago dog on the steamed roll with all the fixings- mustard, relish, onions, tomatoes, pickles hot peppers and celery salt. Nearby Chicagoans told me it just doesn’t get better than this in Chicago!
I also sampled the Vienna beef and Italian sausage combo, a huge sandwich for only $7, moist with the fresh cooked beef’s gravy,  medium hot peppers and caramelized onions.
There’s also plain Italian beef sandwich ($5), beef and Polish sausage combo(7), beef and brat (7), and one can add Mozzarella or a choice of two cheddar cheeses for $0.60 each.
For $2.50 extra, add homemade fries or chips, and a 24 ounce drink to your sandwich. Drinks are otherwise only $1.50 for a 24 ounce glass-top that drink bargain in Naples!

Rich, Bonnie and their sons are friendly and helpful. The other patrons are happy to talk with you about Chicago memories.
Come make some new friends and new memories!

I had the opposite experience... the staff was unfriendly and it took a while for the cashier to even look up from looking at his lapotop with his friends to take our order. No friendly greeting, no hello, nothing. Thier Italian Beef falls short of authentic and lacks any signs of flavor. Thier cheese fries were burnt, looked hours old and had a dark orange hardened cheese. As a true Chicagoan I was excited to see this place was opening, after checking it out though I don't think I would ever go back.

My wife and I had lunch today for the second time and probably the last. The Chicago dog had way too much mustard and the bun was soggy. The owners were no where to be seen!

15 min wait for a 5 dollar hotdog with 2 other people inside. Then when it came, kraut was ice cold. circle K has better dogs with better taste. It won't last...save your money
